Class Descriptions
Level I (Intro)
This rigorous introductory class for beginners and those new to Iyengar
yoga teaches students how to strengthen and lengthen every muscle of
the body without force, while establishing a foundation for the continuing
classes. Salamba Sarvangasana (shoulderstand) is introduced.
Level I-II
In this continuing class, learn a variety of standing poses, forward
bends, twists, beginning backbends, variations of Salamba Sarvangasana,
and preparatory Pranayama. Some students choose to stay at this level
for years, continuing to be challenged and strengthened by these foundational
poses.
Level II, II-III
Intermediate Iyengar yoga students with at least 6 months of study; inversions
including Sirsasana (headstand) are taught; permission of instructor
required
Level III
Advanced Iyengar yoga students regularly practicing at home, including
5-minute Sirsasana, Urdhva Dhanurasana, and various inversions; permission
of instructor required
Prenatal/Postnatal
Expectant mothers at all stages of pregnancy and all experience
levels are welcome. Drop-ins welcome. Mothers 1-6 months postnatal
are also
welcome.
1st/3rd Sunday Free Intro: All are welcome including children age 7+
$5 Multi-level: Reduced price class, all welcome
$5 Multi-level Restorative: Supported, recuperative asanas for all
Family: Age 7+, parents welcome; 8-weeks, $80/family, $40/child only
Seniors/Supported: Age 60+ and those who need a slower, gentler pace
with more support; new beginners welcome; 8-weeks, $80
4-Week Special Needs: Alleviate pain and heal from injury; new beginners
welcome; January—Low Back, February—Neck and Shoulders, March—Knees;
$45/4-week series
